Pastor's Corner: Pastor Barry Witt
In the late summer of 1918 Henry Ford, Harvey Firestone, Thomas Edison, and John Burroughs set out from Pittsburgh on
a two-week tour through parts of the Appalachian mountains. The trip lead them down Route 119 through the city of Connellsville. Not far from town the fan on one of the
automobiles broke and punctured the radiator. Taking the advice of by-standers the group slowly made its way back into Connellsville to a garage on the west side.
Mechanics there, however, were unable to fix the problem and suggested the only thing to do was order a new radiator from Pittsburgh. Ford then rolled up his sleeves and
went to work. Within two hours the four men were back on the road, heading toward Uniontown and the Mason-Dixon Line. Their adventure would take them through
Pennsylvania, Maryland, West Virginia, Virginia, Tennessee and eventually to the Great Smokey mountains in North Carolina. Firestone called it "Mr. Edison's route, for the
rest of us didn't know where we were going." Talk to people today and many will tell you they don't know where they are going. "How," they say, "can a person be
sure he is going to heaven?" God, however, has mapped out a plan:

1. Understand that God wants you to have eternal life. "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten
Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting live."
2. Realize that you do not measure up to God's standard. "For all have sinned and fallen short of the Glory of God."
3. Understand that God has provided for your salvation. "For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our
Lord."
4.Realize that Jesus died on the cross to save us from our sins. "Not by works of the righteousness which we have done, but according to His mercy He saved
us."
5. Understand that you cannot save yourself but must trust in Jesus to save you. "Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be
saved."
6. Understand that from anywhere in Connellsville you can bow your head and ask Jesus to forgive you of your sins.
